Safety for your dog
Your dog is your best friend, and of course, you take great care of your loyal companion. While walking, many things can go wrong: a conflict could arise with another dog, or your dog could enthusiastically chase after something, completely losing sight of their surroundings and resulting in an accident. Loud noises can also startle your dog, causing them to break free from the leash and run away. Additionally, being outdoors and coming into contact with (the droppings of) other animals increases the risk of catching viruses, bacteria, and parasites like worms, fleas, and ticks. Naturally, you want to protect your dog as much as possible. Pharmacy4pets helps you keep your dog as safe and visible as possible.
Protecting your dog
Of course, you want nothing to happen to your dog. But you also want to give your dog the opportunity to enjoy being outdoors. Accidents can never be entirely prevented, but you can do your best to keep your dog as safe as possible. In areas with traffic or many other dogs or people, it is safest (and often mandatory) to keep your dog on a leash. Make sure to use a good collar or harness like the Julius K9 Power Harness and a sturdy leash that is comfortable to hold.
Making your dog visible
A light for the leash or harness makes your dog much more visible in the dark or during drizzly or foggy weather. An Orbiloc light with a clip is easy to attach. A reflector also improves your dog's visibility, especially in areas with lots of traffic and street lighting. A LED collar for your dog, available in various colors, makes walking in the dark not only much safer but also more colorful!
Finding your dog quickly
If your dog unexpectedly runs away, perhaps because they were startled or followed their nose, you can find them quickly if a GPS tracker is attached to their collar. In addition to the (mandatory) microchip, an ID tag containing your phone number, attached to the collar or harness, can help you locate your dog quickly.
Calming your dog
If your dog is very anxious or stressed, walking can be less enjoyable and quite overwhelming for your dog. The chance of them escaping is higher in such cases. The calming Adaptil Calm Collar can be a great help, as can dietary supplements like Zylkene.
Protecting your dog from illnesses and parasites
Dogs that frequently interact with other dogs, enjoy sniffing in tall grass or bushes, swim, or eat things off the ground are at higher risk of contracting certain infectious diseases such as leptospirosis (Weil’s disease), giardia, worms, and parasites like fleas, ticks, and mites. Annual vaccinations, regular deworming, and effective flea and tick protection ensure that your dog can safely enjoy being a dog!
If something does go wrong: having a good first aid kit at home is essential. This should include items such as the Trixie First Aid Kit, a tick remover, soothing ointment for minor wounds like Vetramil Honey Ointment, and a wound-cleaning spray such as Maxani Cleanser Spray.
