NexGard is a tasty chewable tablet for dogs that kills fleas and ticks by overstimulating their nervous system.
The active ingredient in NexGard is afoxolaner. After taking the chewable tablet, afoxolaner is absorbed into the blood. Fleas and ticks attach to your dog and begin to feed. This exposes them to the active ingredient, and within 8 hours (fleas) to 48 hours (ticks), the effect occurs. The flea protection lasts for 5 weeks, and NexGard works against ticks for 4 weeks.
The effectiveness of NexGard is not reduced by swimming or washing your dog because the active ingredient is in your dog.
Administer NexGard chewable tablets according to the table below:

Use during pregnancy, lactation and in puppies
The safe use of NexGard in pregnant, breeding or lactating dogs has not been evaluated. NexGard should not be used in puppies less than 8 weeks or dogs weighing less than 2 kg.
Adverse reactions
The most frequently reported adverse reactions include vomiting, dry/flaky skin, diarrhoea, lethargy and lack of appetite. Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures.
